With online shopping a common form of consumerism, making web purchases secure is a prime priority for many online retailers and credit card companies. Customers of MasterCard and associated credit card providers can enjoy the assurance provided by the MasterCard SecureCode. This additional security check is aimed at putting a stop to unauthorised card usage, assisted by an online PIN known only to you and your credit card issuer.
Upon completing a purchase with a participating retailer, customers are prompted to enter their private MasterCard SecureCode to complete the transaction. Failure to enter the SecureCode will result in the purchase being cancelled.
How does MasterCard SecureCode work?
By adding this additional layer of security, the MasterCard SecureCode acts as an intermediary between the customer and retailer. This means that simply disclosing your credit card details to a third party isn't enough for the card to be used fraudulently should the information fall into the wrong hands.
It’s important to note that SecureCode is still an 'opt in' process, which means purchases will continue normally for those who are yet to enrol. MasterCard and aqua offer zero-liability for all customers opted into for purchases made while using this process , meaning you will always be protected on these transactions. If you suspect your aqua account has been the target of online fraud, you can contact us immediately on our helpline: 0333 220 2691*.

Your Credit Card and MasterCard SecureCode
Once you have registered your credit card with MasterCard SecureCode UK, you will be automatically prompted by all participating retailers to enter your code when you shop with them. There will be no further registration process or software to install. If your card is lost, damaged or renewed, your profile will be immediately updated.
SecureCode not only helps shoppers protect themselves from the risk of fraud, but also benefits online retailers by encouraging confidence among cardholders, reducing chargebacks and increasing the level of online business. Most retailers will display the MasterCard SecureCode logo on their sites to inform customers of their participation, although they are not obliged to. If shopping with confidence is of value to you, look out for participating companies to make online purchases with assurance.
