1 The 7 month offer period applies from the date of account opening. Balance transfers must be made within the first 60 days of account opening to be eligible for the 0% promotional rate. If you make a balance transfer later within the 60 day period, you will enjoy 0% for a shorter amount of time. For example, if you carry out a balance transfer 30 days after account opening, you will only get 6 months of 0% interest on that transfer. If you do not make at least your contractual minimum payment in full and on time or if you go over your credit limit, your promotional rate will be withdrawn and you will pay the standard balance transfer rate (as shown on your statement) on any balance outstanding. When the offer period ends you will pay the standard balance transfer rate on any remaining balance transfer balance. Additional terms and conditions apply.
What is a balance transfer credit card
A balance transfer credit card is when you transfer the balance from one card, where you might be paying a higher amount of interest, to another card. You might make a balance transfer to save money on interest by moving your balance to a card with a lower interest rate, or if you have multiple cards, to consolidate* your balances to a single account.
*Make sure you consider whether consolidating your credit card debt is the right option for you. Compare the rates of interest on the cards including the rate charged after any initial 0% offer period plus the balance transfer fees before you go ahead.
How a balance transfer credit card could benefit you
Switch and save
Take control of your finances and you could save money too when you move balances to a lower interest rate card.
Simple management
Get ahead of your existing debt the smart way by managing your credit all in one place.
Build your credit score
By saving money on interest, you could pay down your balance, which could improve your score if you don't spend further on your card.
Don't forget
Failure to make payments on time or to stay within your credit limit means that you'll pay additional charges, and may make it more expensive and difficult to get credit in the future.
